Following a recent windstorm in Whiteface, Texas, Mr. Rubenthaler contacted us regarding damage to his roof. Our Senior Salesman, Mr. Demel, promptly visited the property to assess the situation and provided a complimentary quote. During the inspection, it was determined that a small section of shingles on the west-facing slope had been blown off. The damage was primarily due to the absence of a starter strip during the original roof installation, which compromised the first course of shingles against high winds. After discussing the findings and proposed solution, Mr. Rubenthaler and Mr. Demel agreed to proceed with the repair. Mr. Demel coordinated with Leo, our lead technician, to begin the work. Leo began by removing all damaged shingles and any remaining nails from the decking. He then cleaned the drip edge thoroughly to remove dirt and debris, ensuring optimal adhesion for the new materials. An edge seal starter strip was installed along the drip edge to provide a secure foundation for the new shingles. Leo then installed IKO 3-tab shingles in the Weathered Wood color along the west-facing slope, using six nails per shingle to ensure secure attachment and wind resistance. Upon completion of the installation, Leo conducted a full cleanup of the work area, removing debris and collecting stray nails with a magnetic sweeper. Mr. Rubenthaler was very pleased with the quality and professionalism of the work completed.
